Hazardous Fuels Reduction -
The Northern Rocky Mountain Resource Conservation &
Development Area and Gallatin, Park, and Meagher County
Extension offices have joined forces to assist
landowners with creating survivable space around their
homes for better protection from wildland fires. The
program offers technical and financial assistance for
landowners to develop and implement a hazardous fuels
mitigation plan. Through grant funding the program is
able to provide a 50% cost share to landowners who
implement the plan. The cost share assists landowners
with paying for fuels reduction work (clearing,
thinning, and trimming vegetation). County professionals
provide direct technical assistance to guide landowners
through this process.
