Manhattan
Economic/Community Planning
Northern Rocky Mountain
RC&D and EDD are working with members from Manhattan on
economic and community development strategies. As
described in the diagram above, economic development is
most successful in the context of a healthy community.
Manhattan is evaluating potential actions that would fit
into a comprehensive approach to economic and community
development.
Planning Efforts -
An ad hoc committee made up members of the community is
meeting regularly to evaluate various economic
development opportunities and tools to formulate
strategies for Manhattan's community and economic
development. The committee has reviewed the
Resource Team Assessment
completed in 2004 and is currently working on developing
a prioritized action plan to move forward with. A
few of the projects that have been discussed include
building a community center, developing a business
recruitment program, developing an economic gardening
program, and strengthening awareness in the community of
local business offerings.
