What is RC&D? 

Resource Conservation & Development Councils are a blend of private enterprise and government in a nonprofit public/private partnership. Program activities are initiated and directed by a volunteer Council consisting of local representatives of government, business, development organizations, non-profit organizations, conservation districts, and individuals.

Organization, Vision and Mission:

Organizational Structure:
The RC&D is a 501(C)(3) organization tax exempt under the IRS Code.  It is an independent nonprofit nonpartisan cooperation charted by the State of Montana.

Vision:
The Northern Rocky Mountain Resource Conservation and Development Area Council envisions Park, Meagher and Gallatin Counties as a regional community where people, through cooperation, development and maintain:

  • A sustainable economy
  • Healthy, empowered, rural communities with a strong sense of place
  • Exceptional quality of life
  • Diverse, viable locally owned agriculture
  • Well managed, sustainable use of resources
  • A desired level of infrastructure and technology
  • Vision to pursue new opportunities

Mission :
The Northern Rocky Mountain RC&D Council serves as a catalyst to empower rural communities to develop and conserve natural resources and enhance economic prosperity for Park, Meagher and Gallatin Counties, Montana.

History of the Organization:

The Northern Rocky Mountain RC&D was incorporated with the State of Montana on September 5th, 2001.  The RC&D was authorized to receive federal funds by the U.S. Department of Agriculture on January 11th, 2002.
